The Trip
In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, right between Scotland and Iceland,
lies the beautiful and unique archipelago: the Faroe Islands. Throughout
time these islands have been inaccessible and unaffected by mainland influence,
a timeless environment living by its own pace and rhythms, a revelation
for travelers eager to escape common holiday habits. The weather is itself
unique, a blend of the seasons is experienced every day with constant
interplay between rain, sun and wind.
The powerful ocean reflects the pure and fresh colors
of the air, colors not seen elsewhere in the world. Floating in the village
harbors are boats designed with Viking traditions reminding you that you
are in a land of seafarers.
From an island to island , crossing channels by boat,
we trek from village to village, over the rising mountains, through the
deep valleys and across the sounds and firths by boat. The tour is tailor-made
for those who wish to be in close contact with nature itself, and who
want to be members of a small group.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Vagar Airport (from Iceland or from Denmark). The first
night will be spent on the Island of Vagar.
Day 2: With the boat Sulan "the Gannet" we cruise to the western
most Island, Mykines, renown for its beauty, its huge colonies of puffins,
gannets and other species. Mykines is the only island in the Faroes colonized
by gannets.
Day 3: Today we visit of the largest island, Streymoy. In a traditional
wooden boat we view the dramatic cliffs and grottos, the famous Vestmannabjorgini.
The colors create a surreal atmosphere enhanced by the echoes and sounds
from the North Atlantic swell, as it brushes the black basalt cliffs.
Day 4: From Vestmanna we trek to Saksun, over a mountain 450 m. Saksun,
the beautiful and isolated village, lies in unique surroundings, on the
edge of the bay. We visit an old traditional farm, Duvugardar, which is
a natural heritage museum. Together with the connected outbuildings it
provides an intimate look into how rural life once was lived in the Faroese.
Day 5: Today Tjornuvik is the destination. It is situated in the center
of a "Greek theatre" created by the steep hills rising around
it. This was an early Viking settlement, a fact we are reminded of by
the Viking graves located at the edge of the village.
Day 6: Again we cross a firth to Eidi, from where we set our direction
towards Gjogv. En route we cross grassland in the remote valley of Ambardalur,
from where we have a great view of the magnificent free standing cliff,
Bugvin. This rock is inhabited by countless kittiwakes, puffins and guillemots,
making it a significant ecosystem by itself.
Day 7: Travel from Torshavn, the Harbor of Thor and the capital of the
Faroe Islands. We take the morning off, so that the local attractions
can be visited. Amongst the most noteworthy are: the beautiful fishing
harbour, narrow, colorful streets, with the atmosphere of old Torshavn,
the local cafés, the several shops in the harbor area, the Nordic
House Museum.
In the afternoon we walk from Torshavn to Kirkjubour, the historic, cultural
and religious center of the Islands, from where relations with Norway
were maintained in the middle age. Here we see the remains of the ancient
St Magnus Cathedral and also the Episcopal residence, a medieval farm.
Day 8: Departure from Torshavn to Vagar Airport.
