The Trip
This great trek in the south volcanic highlands can be
compared, without a doubt, to the most beautiful treks in remote places
of the world. The most hidden part of the Öræfi desert is a collection
of strange and majestic landscapes from the great volcanic rift associated
with the Arctic tundra. Presenting no difficulty for good walkers, each
member carries only a light daypack. Every day involves an average of 6-8
hours hiking. A 4x4 truck carries all personal belongings, heavy equipment
and supplies. This is mostly a camping trek, but we will have the "comfort"
of few overnights in huts and shelters often situated at the most beautiful
sites.
The isolation and severity of the landscape demands that
each tour member be in good physical condition, and that they actively
participate in the trip. This trek is designed for those who wish to fully
experience unspoiled nature at its best, and to see what they may never even
have dreamed still existed.
